Arming Your Camera For Moormesh

Arming Your Camera for MoorMesh

This guide explains how to correctly configure and arm your Reolink camera so MoorMesh works as intended.

⚠️ How MoorMesh Works (Quick Reminder)

MoorMesh uses email alerts from your camera to detect motion and trigger notifications.

This means:

  • Your camera must be correctly configured (previous guide)
  • Motion detection must be actively enabled when you leave your boat

Step 1: Enable the Siren (Important Deterrent)

In the Reolink app:

  1. Open your camera
  2. Tap the settings (⚙️ icon)
  3. Go to:
    • Notifications
    • Siren

Turn Siren = ON

Why this matters

  • The camera will make an audible noise when motion is detected
  • This acts as an immediate deterrent
  • It also alerts you if you forget to disarm the system

Optional

You can:

  • Use the default alarm sound (recommended for maximum impact)
  • Record a custom voice message (e.g. “You are being monitored”)

Step 2: Understand Arming vs Disarming

Unlike MoorMesh, the Reolink app does not have a simple “Arm / Disarm” button.

Instead, this is controlled via the PIR Motion Sensor setting.

Step 3: Arm Your Camera (When Leaving the Boat)

To arm your system:

  1. Open the Reolink app
  2. Go to your camera
  3. Tap Settings (⚙️)
  4. Find PIR Motion Sensor
  5. Set it to ON

✅ Your camera is now armed

✅ Motion will trigger MoorMesh alerts

Step 4: Disarm Your Camera (Before Boarding)

Before you get onto your boat:

  1. Open the Reolink app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Turn PIR Motion Sensor = OFF

✅ This prevents false alerts when you board

⏱️ What Happens If You Forget?

If you board the boat without disarming:

  • The camera will trigger
  • The siren will sound
  • MoorMesh will send an alert
  • You will have 90 seconds to cancel it

This is intentional — it protects you if the alert is genuine, but gives you a safety window for mistakes.

🔁 After Cancelling an Alert

When you cancel an alert:

  • MoorMesh pauses alerts from that camera for 5 minutes
  • This gives you time to move around without retriggering

⚠️ Important:

You should still turn off PIR Motion Sensor in the app if you’re staying onboard.

✅ Best Practice Routine

Leaving the boat:

  • Turn PIR Motion Sensor ON
  • Confirm siren is enabled

Returning to the boat:

  • Turn PIR Motion Sensor OFF before boarding

⚠️ Common Pitfalls

  • Forgetting to re-arm when leaving
  • Forgetting to disarm before boarding
  • Siren turned off (reduces deterrence significantly)

💡 Final Thought

MoorMesh is only as effective as your camera being correctly armed.

Once you build the habit of toggling PIR on/off, it becomes second nature — and your boat remains protected.
