Adjusting alert sensitivity in the Reolink app
Reducing False Alerts: Tuning Your Reolink Camera
The Reolink camera app provides several ways to adjust PIR sensor sensitivity and enable AI-based detection, all of which can help reduce false alerts in MoorMesh. This article walks through the recommended settings and how to test them safely without triggering alerts to the wider MoorMesh network.
Accessing camera settings
Open the Reolink camera app and tap the cogwheel icon above the camera view to open the settings page for that camera.

Adjusting PIR motion sensor sensitivity
The PIR (passive infrared) motion sensor is usually the first place to look if you're receiving general alarms but can't see anything obvious moving around the boat — for example, a hanging rope swaying gently from side to side can be enough to trigger detection.
Within the settings page, open PIR motion sensor and reduce the detection sensitivity. Because the camera is mounted inside the small, enclosed space of the cabin, a low sensitivity value is usually sufficient. Lower the value incrementally and test after each change.

Enabling "reduce false alarms"
The Reolink app also includes a reduce false alarms option, which is worth enabling. As with sensitivity tuning, there is an element of trial and error — enable it, then observe whether genuine events are still being captured reliably over the following days.

Using AI detection
The Reolink app can be configured to alert only when specific objects or items are detected, using on-device AI. Several configuration options are available within this section, allowing you to filter out movement that doesn't match the categories you care about.
IMPORTANT: Testing your changes safely
To test any of the above settings, push notifications must be enabled — this is the fastest way to confirm whether the camera is still triggering on a given type of motion.
Before you start testing, we strongly recommend one of the following, so that your test triggers don't propagate as real alerts:
- Disable email alerts temporarily while you test. MoorMesh will not receive any of the test alerts generated during this period.
- Alternatively, set your status to "onboard" in the MoorMesh app or on the MoorMesh website. Alerts generated while you are marked as onboard will not be escalated.
Once you're confident your settings strike the right balance between sensitivity and noise, remember to re-enable email alerts or change your status back from "onboard".
